CRUSHED TO DEATH
Edward A Howe Killed Under a "Q" Freight Car.
Edward A. Howe, a brakeman on the K.C., St. J & C. B. road, met with sudden death in the yards of that company yesteday morning about 10 o'clock. He had just came in from a trip, and the crew received orders to go out again without delay. Preparatory to starting he went after a couple of buckets of water for the cooler in the way car, but on returning found his path blocked with freight cars. He attempted to crawl under, but when he was about across the tracks the car under which he was passing was suddenly started, and caught him. One of his legs was completely severed and his body considerably mangled. His injuries were so severe that death resulted in a very few minutes. / Howe had been in the employ of the road for several years, and was held in high respect by all who knew him. He leaves an invalid wife and two children, residing on South Fourth street. His father resides in Nebraska and has a brother, a conductor on the Grand Island. He was insured in the Volunteer Relief Department of the Q system.
