Juanita Frances Wilson, 92, of Westernport, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017, and is now in the presence of her beloved savior.
Born Jan. 2, 1925, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Russell Samuel Arthur and Nancy Jane (Shaffer) Arthur.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Melvin Lee Wilson; an infant son, Gary Melvin Wilson; a daughter, JoAnn Wilson, age 5; a son-in-law, John C. Morgan; six sisters, Radie Arthur, Reba McDowell, Inez Clark, Clara Etta Dye, Lucille M. Coop, Freda M. Steininger; and two brothers, Hollie Dale Arthur and one stillborn infant.
Juanita began working at the Lonaconing Silk Mill where she met her husband.
She also worked for the Celanese Fibers Company until its closing.
She worked as a dispatcher for the Westernport Police Department, and her last employment was with Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant, until her retirement. She was a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an outstanding cook. She took great pride in preparing large meals for family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family. In 1969, she felt the calling of God to form a gospel singing group, The Zion Crusaders. Three of her four daughters sang and she accompanied them on the piano. During their ministry of music, they sang and witnessed in multiple states for over 20 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Sproull and husband, Dennis, Lewistown, Pa., Nancy Morgan and husband, Ed Slaubaugh, Keyser, W.Va., Debbie Liller and husband, Scott, Statesville, N.C., and Becky Pyles and husband, Rob, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl W. Arthur, Westernport; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, April 24, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
