Weldon Simmons, 96, of Cleburne, a lifelong resident of Johnson County passed away April 23, 2017 in Keene, TX. He was born September 13, 1920 in Cresson, TX, one of ten children born to Robert Jefferson and Nettie (Drommond) Simmons.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Campaign and participating in the liberation of the Philippines in 1945. After returning to Cleburne he was active in the restaurant business for many years until his retirement in 1983.

He married Marguerite Scott in May 1940. She was his loving wife and best friend for 65 years. She, their son Michael Simmons and seven siblings preceded him in death.

Buddy was a long-time member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, a Scottish-Rite Mason and member of Cleburne Masonic Lodge #315 for over 50 years and an honorary lifetime member of Cleburne Elks Lodge #811.

Survivors include his son, Bud Simmons, grand daughters and great-grand children. He is also survived by two sisters, Sue Logsdon and Wanda Ellis and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Service will be conducted in the Cleburne Chapel with interment at Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. CPFH
