Ethel Ann Groark McMahon, a loving and devoted mother at Age 82, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 on the The Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank Vincent McMahon, Jr. in 1975 and her adored son Tommy in 1982. Ethel is survived by her four children, Catherine McMahon Reilly and her husband Scott of Victoria, MN, Frank McMahon, III and his wife Vikki of Manhattan Beach, CA, Ann Marie McMahon Stuhr and her husband Jeff of Duxbury, MA and Elizabeth McMahon Gormley and husband Craig of Hopkinton, MA. Ethel leaves behind her loving sister, Jane Groark Lynge of Stratford, CT and was predeceased by her brother Owen James Groark, Jr of Centerville, MA . In addition, Ethel leaves her nine grandchildren that were dear to her heart. A long time beloved resident of Westport, CT, she most recently resided in Massachusetts and California to be close her children and grandchildren.
Ethel was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 14, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Owen and Ethel Groark of Fairfield, CT. Her father was born in New Haven, CT and was Chief of Radiology at Bridgeport Hospital. Her mother, Ethel Donovan, was born in Bridgeport, CT. Ethel attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, CT and was graduated from Lauralton Hall in Milford, CT and Immaculata College, Washington, D.C. Ethel met her husband Frank while he was at Georgetown University and she a student at Immaculata College in Washington, D.C.
A funeral Mass will be presided by Fr. Tom Thorne at Assumption Church, Westport, CT on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:15am. An interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Westport, CT. Family and friends are welcome to a reception from 12:30pm-5:00pm being held at The Red Barn Restaurant in Westport. Memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Ethel McMahon to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
