Dorothy Mae Lange, the daughter of George and Estella (Hayes) Verner, was born at Liberty, Tennessee, on July 11, 1925, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 20, 1988, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 9 days.
Her early years were spent in Ducktown, Tennessee, where she graduated from high school. She then worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C. for a few months, and then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked as a telephone operator for 2 years.
On June 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Burdell Lange, at McCaysville, Georgia. They lived in Kearney, Michigan and Doniphan, and in 1955 they moved to Aurora.
On October 2, 1961, she began working for the Hamilton County Telephone Company, and on January 19, 1978 she was promoted to chief operator.
Dorothy was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Lutheran Church, and belonged to the L.W.M.S.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Edmund and Patrick, and one sister Frances Jones.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Burdell; 2 sons, Roger and Randy of Aurora; 4 daughters, Connie Hartman of Hastings, Judy Knecht of Wood River, and Vicky Lange and Kris Griffin both of Aurora; one sister Paula Murray of Hollywood, Florida; 4 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
