Helen M. Book Wetzel, age 73, of Erie, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on February 2, 1938 a daughter of the late David and Anna Seidl Book. She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and then from Academy High School, class of 1955. She previously retired from Bucyrus Erie after 34 years and then from St. Vincent Health Center in Medical Records in 2003 after 14 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community. She enjoyed traveling to all US states, playing bingo, concert music and Sea Wolves Baseball. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Winans and her husband Joseph of Corry, Pa., two granddaughters, Abigail and Rebecca Winans of Corry, Pa., two step-grandchildren, Mindy Winans of Texas and Casey Winans and his wife Michelle of N.C., three step-great-grandchildren, Abygail, Aliyah and Cooper Winans, two sisters, Evelyn Mogel of Erie and Natalie Gerbracht of Va., a brother, David Book and his wife Karen of Erie and several nieces and nephews. Services and burial were held at the convenience of the family. The Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. "Spare me the whispering, crowded room, the friends who come and gape and go, the ceremonious air of gloom, all which makes death a hideous show."
