Emma Dean Baggett went to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at Pine Harbour in Plattsburgh. She was born April 1, 1910, the daughter of Luther Belew and Ollie (Cartwright) Belew.. In her youth, Emma Dean worked as a secretary to a state senator in Austin, Texas. Toward the end of her career she worked as a secretary for the president of a community college. She was always very active in the Methodist Church. Throughout her life Emma Dean showed incredible courage and positive attitude, moving from Texas where she had resided her whole life, to Plattsburgh, at the age of 95. She has taught everyone she has met that getting old can be fun and not hopeless. She smiled and had fun till the end. You will live forever in our hearts, our beloved Mama Dean.. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter Rexford Baggett of Texas. She is survived by two children, Janice B. Deats of Nyack, N.Y. and James M. Baggett of Plattsburgh; their spouses, Richard Deats and Cristina Trutia; and seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pine Harbor Assisted Living, 15 New Hampshire Road, Plattsburgh. Burial will be at a later date in Decatur, Texas.. Donations in Emma's memory may be made to United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh.
