Arnold E. Adkins

BEDFORD, Va., -- Arnold E. Adkins, 74, formerly of Abraham, died Monday, Jan. 15, 1996, in a Bedford hospital following a long illness.

Born Aug. 27, 1921, at Abraham, he was the son of the late Ira Earles and Myrtle Smith Adkins.

Mr. Adkins was self employed of Arnold's Appliance Sales and Service.

He was a member of the Timber Ridge Baptist Church and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Adkins; two brothers, Leonard and Donald Adkins; and a sister, Redith Adkins.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Adkins; six sons, Keith Adkins and Edsel Adkins, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Harold Adkins of Seville, Ohio, Roger Adkins of Beaver, Marty Adkins of Goodview, Va., and Brandon Adkins of Bedford, Va.; three daughters, Pearl Richmond of Daniels, Ruth Smith of Cool Ridge and Lori Leary of Rocky Mount, Va., ; four brothers, Steve Adkins of Abraham, Russell Adkins of Shady Spring, Kenneth Adkins of Salem, Va., and Milburn Adkins of Beckley; two sisters, Lorena Martin of Shady Spring and Minnie Redden of Lookout; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clayton Riggs officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.

Friends may call 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steven B. Adkins, Donnie Adkins, Ronnie Adkins, Boyd Adkins, Ricky Adkins, and Danny Martin.
