Services for Maggie (Fronie) Meador Koon, 88, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Entombment will follow in the Elwyn M. Gipson Chapel. Mrs. Koon was born June 17, 1928 in Corsicana, TX and passed away April 30, 2017 in a local nursing facility. She was the daughter of the late Mae (Lewis) and Dan Meador. Mrs. Koon loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended as many of their functions and activities as she could. She loved her family, friends and cousins. Mrs. Koon was a lifelong member of Lufkin's First Presbyterian Church, serving numerous offices, including elder, deacon, and president of Presbyterian Women. She was an avid hunter and she loved fishing, camping, traveling, (especially cruises) and all water related activities. She was a certified Red Cross swimming instructor and a certified CPR instructor. She was an honorary, life member of the PTA, serving as President of District 12. She was an honorary member of the Lufkin Hemerocallis Society of Lufkin, and was the past president. She loved her day lilies and working in her yard. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Susan Koon of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Joellen and Dick Stubblefield of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kristy Stubblefield Adams and husband, Brian of Lufkin and Amber Koon Miller and husband, Bo of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Abby and Ashlyn Adams of Lufkin; Arden Miller of Nacogdoches; and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Koon. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 607 Jane Way, Lufkin, TX 75904 or Affinity Hospice, 2708 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, TX 75901.
