Jerrie Lea Hogan Atkinson entered into the loving arms of her Savior Saturday, April 29, 2017. Jerrie was born in Mercedes, Texas on February 28, 1934. She graduated from the University of Houston and the Jefferson Davis Hospital School of Nursing. Jerrie worked as a surgical nurse and later as the choir librarian at Sagemont Church. She loved old movies, playing board games, working at the church, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jerrie is preceded in death by her husband John and her son Robbie. Jerrie is survived by her sister Patsy Berard and her children, son, John Atkinson, Jr. and wife Sharon, daughter Betty Carol Mayfield and husband Ben, daughter Brenda Pounds and husband Kyle, and daughter Cindy Atkinson. She was a loving Nana to eleven grandchildren, six great-grand children, and one great-great-grand daughter.
Jerrie’s family will celebrate her life on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 10:00am at Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel, with visitation being held Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
