Alan Thomas Burke passed away on September 13, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center, in Washington D.C. He was born on April 8, 1944 in Washington, D.C., the son of James Thomas and Beatrice Bell (Schawkey) Burke.

Alan graduated from Lackey High School in 1962, and also was a graduate of the Corcoran School of Art, pursuing a career in graphic arts and fashion photography. In later years, he became a teacher, and taught art at the Grace Lutheran School of LaPlata, MD, and the Kings Christian Academy in Callaway, MD. He was a member of the Hughesville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Alan is survived by his wife, Linda Jean (Matala) Burke; six children, Shawn, Thomas, Timothy (Kristin), and Lisa Burke, Brian (Valerie) Bos, and Jennifer (Scott) Donaldson; grandchildren, Weston, Tanner, Cody and Abigail Donaldson, Mason Burke, Nicholas, Emily and Christopher Bos, and Miles Burke; and brother, James (Loretta) Burke.

Life Celebration and service held at Hughesville Baptist Church, Hughesville, MD. Interment at Nanjemoy Baptist Church cemetery, Nanjemoy, MD.
