Delmar C. Dilley, 70, of Oakland, died Monday, July 3, 1989, at the Veterans Hospital, Pittsburg, Pa.

Born April 15, 1919, in Marlington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ellet H. Dilley and Sarah N. (Lohr) Dilley.

Mr. Dilley was the owner of the Dilley Well Drilling Company, Oakland, for 40 years, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Proctor Kildow Post 71; the American Legion Oakland Chapter DAV; the Woodmen of the World Camp 11, Oakland; and the Maryland Well Drillers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Arlena A. (Shrout) Dilley; three daughters, Mrs. Glenna R. Miller and Mrs. Aleta D. Knotts, both of Oakland; and Mrs. Gloria J. Roth, Scherr, W.Va.; two sons, Ronald E. Dilley and C. Eugene Dilley, both of Oakland; one sister, Mrs. Ruby E. Piper, Oakland; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at the funeral home of Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Michael Mudge and Rev. Charles Teets. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by members of various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.

He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in action on February 7,1945 near Blenheim, France while serving in Company G, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. See Seventh Army General Orders No. 600 dated October 11, 1945.
