Born August 9, 1933, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Kenneth R. and Erma Curry Dougherty. He married Katherine Muir, June 9, 1962, in Mansfield, Ohio.
Mr. Dougherty lived in Lomax, Illinois, during his childhood, and graduated from Dallas City High School, Dallas City, Illinois, in 1951. He was a resident of Hammonton, New Jersey, for 30 years.
Until his retirement, Mr. Dougherty was in sales with Rice Hardware of Hammonton. He also played drums professionally throughout his life.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine; 1 son, Shawn, of Shreveport, Louisiana; 2 daughters: Colleen Dougherty and Erin Dougherty, both of Hammonton; his father, Kenneth Dougherty of Indianapolis, Indiana (formerly of Lomax); 1 brother, Lynn Dougherty of Indianapolis; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother.
The Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third Street, Hammonton, NJ, was in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services were held Friday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton, New Jersey.
A memorial fund has been established to the Hammonton Rescue Squad, 300 S. Egg Harbor Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
