Arthur Hamilton Collyer , Second-Lieutenant, Gordon Highlanders, was the younger son of the late Mr A. Hamilton
Collyer, who was for twenty-four years music master in the School [at Dollar] He left School in 190 9 . On the outbreak of war he joined the Gordon Highlanders as a private, and was over a year in France before coming home for his commission. During that time of active service he gained the admiration of his officers for his coolheaded courage. He returned to France in October 1916, and was wounded, though not dangerously, on 23rd April 1917. As he was being conveyed to the rear on a stretcher he was killed by a shell.

Gordon Highlanders who was killed in action in France 23rd April 1917 and is buried in Athies Cemetery; his wife ANNABELLA MacRAE who died 14th September 1936 aged 78 years; his son JOHN ARTHUR McRAE who died 24th September 1954 aged 70 years
