Clarence F. Rathbun

Age 92, of 14457 Raucholz Rd., Chesaning, died Thursday morning, Jan. 12, 1989 at The Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rathbun had worked at Mulhall-Erb Lumber Yard for 36 years, retiring in 1970. He had formerly worked on the Ann Arbor Railroad as a lineman, at Roach Canning Company, and at Malleable Iron Company in Owosso.

Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., from the Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owoss, with the Rev. Ronald McClung officiating and burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel, where the family will be present today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the March of Dimes.

Mr. Rathbun was born in Brant, Mich. on May 16, 1896, the son of Joseph F. and Sarah K. (Vanderhoof) Rathbun. He attended Limbacher School in Brant before moving to Owosso at age 16. He was a 1914 graduate of Owosso High School.

He and Hazel Snyder were married on June 2, 1916. She predeceased him on May 18, 1958. In May of 1963, he and Grace Tatroe were married in Owosso. She predeceased him on Oct. 31, 1973.

Mr. Rathbu was a member of the American Legion Owosso Post 57, the World War I Barracks, the A.A.R.P., and was a veteran of the U. U. Army.

Survivors include:

Two daughters, Mrs. Joseph F. (Leona B.) Nechvil of Chesaning and Mrs. James D. (June) Warner of Norwalk, Calif.; grandchildren, Tom and Louise Rood of Taylor, Texas, Les and Becky Rood of Muskegon, Sharon and Orville Sjaaheim of Melaca, Minn., Joanne and Ed Luchenbill of Corunna, Rick Rood of Jennett, Texas, Nancy and Bob Blazo of Chesaning, John Rood of Owosso, Dennis and Cheryl Rood of Chesaning, Daniel and Rose Craft of Owosso, Peggy Sulton of Radcliff, Ky., Judy and Pat Anderson of Whittlier, Calif., and Mike and Debbi Warner of Yorba Linda, Calif.; 33 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters; one stepson; and several nieces and nephews.
