Nisqually Valley News, Thurs. Sept. 5, 1996, p. 2:5. CW4 C.O. Irby, United States Army retired, eide en route from his Yelm home in Singletree Estates to Madigan Army Hospital on Aug. 19, 1996. He was born on Feb. 7, 1929, in Burkburnett TX and has resided in Yelm since 1991. CW4 Irby was a helicopter pilot in the United States Army. He saw combat in Korea and Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, AFEM Korea and the RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He is survived by his wife, Jolene Craig Irby. A memorial service will be held at the Yelm City Park pavilion on Sat. Sept. 14, 1996, at 10 a.m.
