Hazel was born May 4, 1919 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Otto and Bertha (Arndt) Arndt. On June 9, 1939 she married Patrick Guckeen in Winnebago, Minnesota. They later moved to Austin where Patrick was employed as an electrician. After his death in 1967, Hazel obtained work as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Olaf Hospital.
Hazel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a resident at St. Mark’s for 14 years and we thank them for the care and attention that Hazel received during that time.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth (Sandra) Guckeen, Duane (Ilene) Guckeen; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Guckeen; nine grandchildren, Joan (Tim) Cichoski, Patrick (Michelle) Guckeen, Nancy (John) Erkenbrack, Daniel (Cathy) Guckeen, Amy (Seth) Tolson, Darin Guckeen, Darcie Guckeen, David Guckeen, Shawn Guckeen; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother, George; sisters, Fran and Fern.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patrick; son, James; great granddaughter, Danielle; three brothers; two sisters; daughter-in-law, Shirley Guckeen.
Funeral services held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Mark’s Chapel with Rev. James Groleau officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Blue Earth.
