The graveside service will be May 13 for James Glenn Berkshire of Eugene, who died May 8 of age-related causes. He was 93.

Berkshire was born March 30, 1909, in Goshen to James and Julia Southworth Berkshire.

He married Irma Krikava in Eugene on Sept. 25, 1937. She died Nov. 1, 1978. He married Rita Bond in Eugene on Aug. 12, 1979. She died in October 1995.

He graduated from Santa Maria High School in California and worked as a machinist and blacksmith.

He worked at BABB Hardware, later called American Steel, and retired from Carruthers Manufacturing.

He enjoyed building steam engine models, reading and traveling and was one of the founding members of the Irving Fire Department, now Lane Rural Fire District.

He lived in the area most of his life.

Survivors include a son, Ron of Eugene; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lois, died in 1978.

Monday's service will be at 11:30 at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
