William Sterling Lippy, Jr. was born January 1 1934 in Westminster, Maryland. He departed this life Sunday, May 7, 2017 in his home near Lebanon, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years, four months, and six days. On January 1, 1959, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Hazel Hopkins and to this union one son was born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiliam S. Lippy, Sr. and Helen M. Lippy and two sisters, Dorothy Ebaugh and Irene Uhler.

William is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Eleanor, of the home; a son, William "Billy" Lippy III and his wife, Michele, of Waynesville, Missouri; four grandchildren: Josh Lippy and his wife, Jessica, of Lebanon, Missouri; Lacy Lippy, of Gainesville, Georgia; Matt Jones of Waynesville, Missouri, and Jeremy Jones, of Centerton, Arkanas; two great-grandchildren, Bella and Carson; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Hopkins, of Altas, Oklahoma, James Hopkins, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Danny Hopkins, of Severn, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Heney, of San Antonio, Texas and Faith Loudon of Pasadena, Maryland; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

William was raised in Maryland and Pennsylvania and then entered the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from February 19, 1953 until being honorably discharged on April 18, 1957. He was stationed in Greenland, Moracco, and in Wyoming and Ohio during his tours of duty. He then returned to Maryland and, after he and Eleanor were married, they made their home in Baltimore and lovingly raised ther son. William was employed by General Electric Corporation for twenty-seven years, beginning as a truck driver and then working in the warehouse. In 1984, the family moved to Missouri and made their home in Laclede County. William owned and operated Laclede County Contractor for the next twenty years.

William had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Washington Christian Church near Lebanon. He appreciated the fellowship his church offered and cared about his church family. He and Eleanor were members of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International, Inc. and enjoyed traveling with their Airstream friends throughout the country.

In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where one of his favorite activites was gardening. He was proud of his service in the Air Force and maintained a patriotic spirit throughout his life. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-three years.
