ASHEBORO Bertha Cox Owens, 88, of Giles Chapel Road, died Friday, July 31, 2009, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held Aug. 2, 2009, at First Wesleyan Church in Randleman, where she was a member, with the Rev. Don Hurlburt and the Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, widow of Esco Owens, formerly employed by Tie Rite Neckware and Rampon Hosiery, member of the Best Years Fellowship at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church, the Randolph County Senior Steppers and the McDonald's Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club.
Surviving are daughters, Evelyn Asbill and Barbara Ward, both of Asheboro; son, Howard Owens of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
