Robert Henry Hunley was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee, March 25, 1869, and passed away October 9 1952, at his home near Thurman, Iowa, after a lingering illness at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Armstrong in 1887. To this union 14 children were born, of which 4 preceded him in death. Elizabeth passed away August 1909. Robert was both father and mother to the children for many years.

He came to Hamburg, Iowa in 1917 and ran a store and mill in the vicinity until around 1924 when he went back to Tennessee.

In 1927 he was united in marriage to Roberta Simpson and to this union 6 children were born. He returned to Iowa in 1931 and made his home around Thruman until his death.

He is survived by his wife and 16 children. He also leaves to mourn 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
