Wava V. Adair, 83, of Pittsburg, Kansas, formerly of Versailles, died May 11, 2017, at the home of her son in Pittsburg, Kansas following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by family.

She was born April 14, 1934, in Silver City, Iowa, the daughter of Cliff and Susie Sargent Stewart.

She graduated from Silver City High School in 1952 and moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she was eventually set up on a blind date with Robert "Bob" Adair while he was on a weekend leave from the Air Force.

She and Bob married on April 12, 1958, in Silver City, Iowa and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2014.

Bob and Wava resided in Wichita Falls, Texas, Faribault, Minnesota and Rifle, Colorado before eventually making their home in Versailles, Missouri twenty-five years ago.

Mrs. Adair worked as a bookkeeper for the Colorado National Bank in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Wava's other interests included gardening, woodworking, cooking and being outside.

Survivors include one son, Duane Adair and his wife Melinda of Pittsburg, Kansas; two daughters, Pam Bechler and her husband Junior of George, Iowa, and Audrey Strickland of Versailles, Missouri; one granddaughter, Andrea Northrop and five grandsons, Adam Northrop, Tony Northrop Jr., Cody Bechler, Evan Bechler and Casey Bechler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Duane Stewart and one granddaughter, Amy Northrop.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Friday May 19, 2017, at 2:00 PM.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

cremains will be buried Friday with Wava's at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. We do not have Wava's middle name and no they do not have a stone marker yet.

, age 79, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.

He was born July 13, 1935, in Maywood, Illinois, a son of the late Dewey and Margaret (Galloway) Adair.

On April 14, 1958, in Silver City, Iowa, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Wava (Stewart) Adair.

Robert was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was employed as an over the road truck driver for many years until his retirement.

Robert was a member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge #320 and also a masonic lodge in Minnesota.

In addition to his wife, Wava, he is survived by his son, Duane Adair of Pittsburg, Kansas; daughters, Audrey Strickland of Versailles, Missouri and Pamela Robin of George, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, John Adair of Modesto, California and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Dochnal and a granddaughter, Amy Jill Northrop.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held at a later date in Iowa.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
