Wanda was born at home in rural Kiowa County, CO about 8 miles from the little town of Haswell, CO. She was the 7th and last child of Dan and Ruby Myers. Her mother died on their farm when Wanda was 5 years old and the family moved to a farm 10 miles west of Las Animas, CO. She left home in the early 1940's and moved to Denver to live with her sisters. In about 1950 she married Joseph Hiram Hand. Three children were born to this union: Linda, Sandra, and Joseph. Her husband, Joe, died in Denver about 1988. Wanda continued to live in Denver for most of her life. The last two years she spent in assisted living in Idaho. Upon her death she was cremated and her ashes were scattered near Breckenridge, Colorado by her children.
