Helen Anastasia Koliopulos Cassilly (Petie), 87, daughter of Demetrios Stratos Koliopulos and Margaret Mary Boyle, was born in Hagerstown, Md., on May 30, 1929, and died peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, on Jan. 7, 2017.

Beloved by her sister, Elizabeth, brother, Jimmy, and her cousin, Helen Bower, Petie’s early years in Hagerstown were filled with family, friends and fun.

She attended Georgetown Visitation in Washington, D.C., and went on to study at Notre Dame College in Baltimore, Md. She was introduced to the Cassilly clan and married Dick Cassilly in 1951. Petie resided on the family farm in Hartford County, Md., for 15 years, raising their six children. In 1966 the family moved to Germany, where Philip, No. 7, was born. For the next 12 years, Petie enjoyed traveling, learning about the European cultures, art, history and the opera. She returned to Maryland in 1978, where many of her family resided.

She is survived by her seven children, Helen, Margaret, Charlotte, Ric, Patrick, Michael, Philip and Sherry; 10 devoted grandchildren and 10 adorable great-grandchildren; the most loving and affectionate nieces and nephews; adoring Greek cousins.

Burial will be on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery.
