Camden, S. C., July 7--Brooks Cornwell, charged with the murder of Adolph Kelly, was acquitted of murder today. The jury remained out twenty-five minutes. The case was marked by several unusual features. Cornwell struck Kelly with a hatchet, splitting the victim's skull. Though Kelly's brain was exposed, he lived about six weeks after receiving his wound. Cornwell claimed self-defense.
