Evan G. Lindner, age 92, of Yardville, NJ and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Capital Health Medical Center at Hopewell with family by his side.

Born November 19, 1924 in Sunbury, PA he was the son of the late Franklin E. Lindner and Olive Kerstetter Lindner.

He was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, class of 1942. He also attended Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, PA.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served as a Radio Operator aboard the USS Carib ATF82 in the South Atlantic and North African regions.

He retired from Public Service Electric and Gas Co. as a Stationary Engineer in New Jersey. He was a 30-year member of the Central New Jersey Camera Club. Enjoying many years of photography as a serious hobby and working in his own darkroom, he enjoyed showing his photographs in many juried photography exhibitions.

Evan was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. (Basehore) Updegrove-Lindner, daughter, Diane Griggs and step-son John Updegrove. He is survived by his three children, Cheryl Nelson and her husband of John of Lakewood, CA, Kenneth Lindner and his wife Diane of Hartley, Iowa and Steven Lindner and his wife Darlene of Lakewood, CA; two step-sons, Patrick Updegrove and his wife Gayle of Hamilton Square, NJ and Michael Updegrove and his wife Libby of Saginaw, TX, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Friday, 1:00 PM May 26, 2017 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
