Thelma M. Greenthal, 83, of Lower Glen Ave., passed away Wednesday (Dec. 2, 2009) at St. James Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Hornell, July 31, 1926, the daughter of Chauncey and Estella (Day) Baldwin, she had resided in the Hornell area all her life. Thelma was employed for the former Marion Rohr and enjoyed scrap booking, gardening, fishing, car shows, feeding wild birds and most of all her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Greenthal; two brothers, Harold Baldwin and Charles Cook; one sister, Lois Berry.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Keith) Decker of Jasper and Ernestine Preston of Hornell; two sons: Ernie (Jutanna) Greenthal of Howard and Fred (Amy) Greenthal of Canaseraga; one sister, Betty Maine of Pavilion; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Phillip Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
