Lloyd “Gubby” King, 91, (not the 49 he always claimed) passed away peacefully at his home on September 2, 2014. He was born on October 22, 1922, in Iona, Idaho, to Forrest Fountain and Mary Celesta Lee King, the sixth child in a family of nine boys and two girls. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and participated in the battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”

Lloyd married Agetha Butterfield on June 26, 1948, and their vows were later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He worked as a builder and supervised the building of many projects in and around Ogden.

A member of the Orchard Park LDS (old 9th) Ward, he served in many capacities in ward and stake callings including Bishop and high councilman. He and his wife served in the Africa Zimbabwe LDS Mission.

Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years. Also survived by his children, Gale (Earl) Livingston, Ogden; Corey (Cindy) King, Centerville; and Tracy (Jean) King, Ogden; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
