A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Hill was a daughter of the late Claude and Dorothy Long Clontz. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George Gasperson, Sr., and by her sister, Helen Sutphin.
Mrs. Hill worked at both Webb Insurance and Biltmore Tool & Supply, but her main job was raising her family. She was the consummate grannie and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching tennis, and staying active with her church, Zephyr Hills Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, Chet Hill; daughters, Mary Gasperson Gray and husband Steve, Susan Gasperson, and Jeanne Hill Parris; sons, Rev. George Gasperson, Jr., and wife Margaret, and Rev. Dan Gasperson and wife Jackie; sister, Joyce Clements; brothers, Bill, Robert, and David Clontz; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Hill will be on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with her sons, Revs. George Gasperson and Dan Gasperson officiating. Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Hill's family asks that memorials be made to Zephyr Hills Free Will Baptist Church, 283 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, or to CarePartners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
