Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of Pressley and Florence Hamrick Costner.
She was born Nov. 11, 1916.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Stamey's Department Store and J.C. Penney's on the Square in Shelby.
She was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Arthur Lee Spangler Jr., who passed away on July 11, 1997. They had been married 63 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters. They were Valarie Hoyle, Vetus Bridges, Lucy Wright and A.V. Williams.
