Dennis was born to Lyle and Ima (Jones) Hanon. He graduated from Yreka High School in Yreka, California in 1960. Dennis married Mary Hitchcock, August 24, 1963 at the Yreka Methodist Church.
Dennis served his country in the United States Air Force from October of 1966 to September of 1968 where he attained the rank of E-5 Sergeant. He was stationed in Marble Mountain Air Base in South Vietnam. Dennis was an air crewman aboard an OV-1 Mohawk aircraft as an Airborne Sensor Specialist, flying numerous, dangerous reconnaissance missions over enemy territory (the DMZ). Dennis was awarded in excess of twenty air medals. Dennis and Mary had two children, Garren Hanon and Summer Hanon. Dennis managed a filling station and eventually started his own flooring business called "Hanon's Floors To Go" in Yreka, California.
Dennis was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge 19 in Yreka.
Dennis was a generous and avid supporter of the local schools, youth sporting events and community events.
Dennis loved hunting, fishing and classic cars. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. In return Dennis was loved and respected by the Yreka community in which he lived.
