August W. Abraham, was born October 14, 1874 at Gruenwald, Germany to Mr. and Mrs. August Abraham, Sr. In 1882 he came to the United States to Crown, Minn. He cleared many acres of land and also cut hard maple Northeast of Princeton. He drove oxen loaded with supplies from Minneapolis to Grand Rapids. On Dec. 22, 1900 he was united in marriage to Louise Emme Steinke, in Minneapolis. He worked in Minneapolis for a furniture manufacturing company and the Great Northern Railroad, returning to Crown in 1918 to farm. He was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church of Crown. Mr. Abraham passed away on May 30, 1968 at the Princeton Community Hospital at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 6 days. He survived by 3 sons: Roy of Moose Lake, Walter of Elk River, and Harry of Zimmerman; 6 daughters: Mrs. John James (Bertha) of Elk River, Mrs. Oscar Nielsen (Erma) of Princeton, Mrs. Mike Powers (Margaret) of Anoka, Mrs. Harry Carlson (Minnie) of Minneapolis, Mrs. Myrtle Kmitch of St. Cloud, and Mrs. Emil Schmiege (Evelyn) of Zimmerman; 40 grandchildren, 93 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter and four brothers. Family services were held at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Kaun Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 1968 at Zion Lutheran Church at Crown by Rev. Larrabee. Soloist was Delton Stockel and organist was Miss Marilyn Hartfield. Pallbearers were: Emil F. Schmeige, Kenneth and Russell James, James Abraham, Alfred Griep and Dawyne Banfield. Interment was in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements by: Kaun Funeral Home, Princeton, Minn.
