In 1910 she and her parents and five siblings lived on a farm they were renting in Sweetwater Township, Lake County, MI.

In 1920 she and her parents and brother George lived in a house they were renting at 2108 West State Street in Rockford, IL. Her father worked as a commercial teamster for a tractor company and George as a machinist in a farm implement factory.

In 1930 she, her mother, her husband, and their son lived in an apartment they were renting for $60 a month at 8022 South Evans Avenue in Chicago, IL. They did have a radio. Andrew worked as an assistant manager at a restaurant and Julia worked as a proofreader for a publishing company.

In 1940 the four of them plus her and Andrew's two additional children lived in a house they were renting for $47 a month at 10119 South Calumet Avenue in Chicago. Andrew worked as a manager of a restaurant and Patricia still worked as a proofreader for a printing company, with an income in 1939 of $300 for 50 weeks of work.
