He was born in Baxter, KY in Harlan County, a son of the late Walter and Octavia White Jackson. He retired as superintendent of Kentucky Utilities after 40 yrs of service. Garrett also served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed eating out, and drinking coffee at the BP Station on Jarvis Ave. Garrett was always seen around town with either his black or white cowboy hat and his cowboy boots. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patsy Asher Jackson who died in 1966; his second wife, Dorothy Munsey Jackson, who died December 20, 1998. He is survived by a daughter, Karen S. Jackson of Louisville, KY. two sisters; Blanche Medley, Lexington, KY and Iva Lee (& Calvin) of Birmingham, Alabama; and a brother, Carl (& Vivian) Jackson of Lexington, KY.
