Albert Ralph Gentz, 93, of Blissfield, passed away, early morning on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Blissfield Place under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.

Born July 11, 1923 in Riga Township, Michigan, he was the son of the late Ralph and Maude (Davey) Gentz.

On June 17, 1944, he married the former Amelia “Elsie” Walper, and she preceded him in death in December 2016. They were blessed with 72 years together.

Albert was a farmer throughout his life. He also worked as a factory laborer at Hydromatic in Toledo and RevCo in Deerfield. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Albert enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, Polka music, travelling, dancing, and playing cards, especially Euchre.

Albert is survived by his children, Ron (Dianne) Gentz, and Linda (Don) Loar, both of Blissfield; grandchildren, Julie (Lloyd) Conway, Lori (Danny) Jones, Amy (Pat) Collins, Kurt (Kellie) Loar, Mari (Ron) Vargo and Luke (Karly) Loar; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Abby Conway, Connor Jones, Devin Moore, Seth and Liam Loar, Tyler and Natalie Vargo, and Jonathan and Alayna Loar; sister, Ruth (Dee) Goetz; and sister-in-law, Mildred Gentz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, A. Elsie Gentz; and his siblings, Stella Mae Schmelz, Mable Beagle, Louise Sayler, and Richard Gentz.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Leking officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service.
