Minnie's father, Simon P Stover, was first married to Elizabeth Ida Juda(h) Link. They had all boys and one girl, Ida Elizabeth, who was the mother of President Dwight D Eisenhower. Elizabeth died in 1867, and Simon then married Adalaide D Cook. Their first child together was Minnie Florence Stover. In summary, Ida and Minnie were half sisters.

The 1870 census shows Minnie at the age of approximately 10 months old, living with her family in Augusta County, Virginia. The 1880 census shows her living with her mother, a widow, two half brothers, and siblings. Between 1880 and 1896, she somehow ended up in Iowa.
John William Banks was born in Scott County, Iowa, in about 1873. The 1880 census shows him and sister Ada, living with their grandmother, Susan Barr, and aunt, Mary A Barr.
Minnie and John were married in Scott County, Iowa, in 1896. The 1900 census shows them living in Davenport, Iowa. In 1904, their only child, Luther Stover Banks, was born. Two years later, they moved to Olathe, Kansas, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Gen. Eisenhower's Aunt Dies Here
Mrs. Minnie Florence Banks, 76, aunt of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, died Tuesday evening at her home two miles north of Olathe on highway No. 7. With her husband and son she moved here in 1906 from Davenport, Iowa. She was a member of the Olathe Presbyterian church.
She is survived by her husband, John Banks of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Eisenhower, mother of the General of Abilene, Kas., and Mrs. C. D. Lucas, Yakima, Wash.; three brothers, Luther Stover, Phoenix, Ariz.; Dave Stover, Stockton, Calif., and Milton Stover, Oregon state.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the Julien chapel in Olathe, conducted by the Rev. H. H. Beers. Burial will be in the Olathe Cemetery.
