Ishpeming – Francis L. DeCaire age 74 of 1141 S. Pine St. passed away on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family and the nursing home staff.

Francis was born November 5, 1942 in Ishpeming to the late Earl and Margaret DeCaire. He attended Ishpeming Public Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1960. Francis married Judith Steinbach in 1970. He worked for Cleveland Cliffs at both the Republic Mine and later the Tilden Mine as a warehouse supervisor for 38 years.

Francis was a life long member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, was the Treasurer of the Ishpeming Cribbage League for over 30 years, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd and 4th degree Knight, he was a former member of the Michigan Army National Guard, he enjoyed hunting in his younger years, going to football games, following his grandkids in sports, going to mud drags, was a Lions fan, and especially loved his Chevy trucks.

Francis is survived by his wife Judith DeCaire, 3 children- Debbie (Dan) Wertanen, Becky (Don) Harju, Beth (Kevin) DeLoughary, 2 sisters- Sue (Doug) Perttunen, Karen (Jerry) Tonkin, 4 grandchildren- Cody (Abigail Burke) Harju, Derek DeCaire, Hannah DeLoughary, Dustin Wertanen, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts and uncles, and his best friend Jim Manley.

Francis' family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00am until 12:00pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday May 27, 2017. A Memorial Mass will follow at 12:00pm with Fr. Larry Van Damme as celebrant. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the K/D Hall.

Honorary pallbearers are Francis' 4 grandchildren- Cody, Derek, Dustin, and Hannah, and Sons-in-Law- Dan, Don, and Kevin.
