BOYD L. MUIR

Boyd L. Muir, 80, of Ligonier, died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Ligonier Gardens, Ligonier. He was born April 20, 1919, in Fairfield Township, a son of the late Ralph and Annie Smith Muir. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet M. Sharp Muir; two daughters, Mrs. Robert E. (Lois) Stickney of Ligonier RD5 and Mrs. Lewis O. (Connie) Douglass of Cowansville; a son, Edward L. (and wife Shirley) Muir of Fairborn, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Henry O. (Hazel) Palmer of Bolivar RD1; a brother, Eugene (and wife Catherine) Muir of Bolivar RD1; and several nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, he had been employed as director of training for the Vale Technical Institute, Blairsville, for over 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Laurel Antique Auto Club and the Western Antique Auto Club. Boyd collected and restored antique cars all his life. He freely shared his knowledge and expertise with his friends from all over the Ligonier Valley and beyond. Friends will be received at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Herbert G. Gates III officiating. Interment Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Ligonier Valley Veterans Honor Guard will present full military honors in the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Ligonier Gardens, c/o the Boyd L. Muir Fund.
