W. W. COLEMAN PASSES AWAY

This community was saddened last Saturday morning when it learned of the passing of one of Carter County's oldest and most respected citizens, Mr. W. W. Coleman. The end came quietly after several months of feebleness. In fact he had never fully recovered from the effects of injuries received in an automobile accident about two years ago, but up until about ten days before passing away he was up and about town.

Mr. Coleman had been a citizen of Carter county for the past 37 years, most of which time he spent in the merchant business in Van Buren. His reputation for honest dealing with his customers was countrywide and was in keeping with his high code of morals and Christianity.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the family residence by Rev. O'Dell. Following the service the large crowd followed the body to the Van Buren cemetery where the Masonic Lodge laid it to rest.

Seven children, Edgar, Frank, John, Watt, W. E. Coleman and Mrs. Chas. Coleman and Mrs. O. L. Clark, survive Mr. Coleman and all were present at the funeral except Watt, who was unable to come from his home in Conroe, Texas.

A more extended obituary will appear in a later issue.

A RESOLUTION OF RESPECT was published in the 8-16-1928 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, MO, on the front page.

Resolved--That the community heard with profound sorrow of the death of Brother W. W. Coleman, a member of Van Buren Lodge No. 599, A. F. & A. M., and a member of the Van Buren Baptist church. Born January 4, 1848, died July 27, 1928.

We shall not err in calling him a good member. The judgement which guided him, the spirit which inspired him, the courage which animated him, the faithfulness which characterized him; these and other elements of noblest quality were blended in him so as to make him good. Admiration and confidence followed him while he lived. Gratitude and love follow him when dead. The perfect simplicity of his character and the purity of his life will ever stand as the rich heritage of his children, the church, and lodge.

Resolved further: That the family, church, lodge, and community have lost an efficient member and citizen. And that these Resolutions of record, a copy of which be sent to each member of his family.
