MAIDEN - Lillie Carnelia Buff Crouse, 95, of 4194 Buffalo Shoals Road, passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Abernethy Retirement Center.
Born July 27, 1908, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Buff and the late Margarett Pendleton Buff. She was retired from the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Crouse, and a son, Reedy William Crouse. Survivors include a son, the Rev. David William Crouse and wife, Jean of Stony Point; a daughter, Mrs. Willie "Dorothy" Crouse Drum of Maiden; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Burke Mortuary in Maiden with the Rev. Larry McCracken officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Ruhama Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight, Tuesday, at Burke Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Abernethy Retirement Center, 102 Leonard Ave., Newton, N.C. 28658.
