Ruth M. Bump, 90, of 45 Pinewood Drive, Tiffin, died at 3:57 a.m. Feb. 17, 2007, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
Ruth was born May 17, 1916, in Fostoria, to the late Harry S. and Ruth (Baird) Coe. She married Donald O. Bump in Fostoria on June 14, 1936, and he died April 16, 2005.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Ronald L. (Sally) Bump of Lincoln, Neb.; and Dr. Richard C. (Kathryn) Bump of Zionsville, Ind., Mrs. Gary (Martha) Thompson of Tiffin; a brother, Robert Coe of California; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Ruth worked for her husband's business, Tiffin News Agency, taking care of all the bookkeeping for the business. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the St. Paul's Women group and the OWLS Bible study group. Ruth also was a Mercy Hospital volunteer and a 50 year member of the Fostoria Eastern Star. She delivered mobile meals, was a member of the Thera-Pet group and participated in the "Ohio Reads" program. Ruth was an avid golfer, bowler and bridge player.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Harry S. Coe Jr.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. There will be no visitation, and burial will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery. Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
