OBITUARY--Gilroy Advocate, Gilroy, Santa Clara, California, USA
Mrs. Elvira Elcy Lawn wife of J.A. Lawn and mother of Dudley Lawn, died at the family home on San Benito and Haydon Streets at a late hour Sunday night, following an illness of several weeks duration and which she bore with the utmost patience and bravery.
Mrs. Lawn was a native of Iowa, aged 49 years 9 months and 28 days. Besides the sorrowing husband and son, Mrs. Lawn is survived by three sisters, Miss Hattie M Putney and Mrs. Augusta Steele of San Francisco, both of whom have been with her in her last illness, and Mrs. Ira A Lytle of Santa Barbara.
The funeral was held from the Methodist-Episcopal Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the Gilroy Cemetery.
Mrs. Lawn was a woman of splendid characters, charming and gracious in manner and possessed of a wide circle of friends who join her in extending sympathy to the family in their loss.

Mrs. Lawn Passes to Final Reward
Mrs. Elvira Elsy Lawn passed away at her home on San Benito Street last night following an illness of three months duration. The end came peacefully with members of the family at the bedside.
Mrs. Lawn was born at Moorehead, Iowa 49 years ago and came to California in 1894, settling near Gilroy where her father and sister had moved two years previously.
In 1903 she was married to John A Lawn in Oakland and resided with her husband in San Francisco until 1912 when they moved to Hollister to make their home.
During her residence in Hollister, Mrs. Lawn made many friends and was known as an honest upright Christian woman who always was cheerful and had a good word for everyone.
She is survived by her husband, John A Lawn, one son, Dudley Lawn, and three sisters, Mrs. Hattie M Putney, Mrs. Augusta Steele of San Francisco and Mrs. Ira A Lytle of Santa Barbara.
The funeral which is in the charge of W.W. Black will be held from the M.E. Church at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon and burial will be held at Gilroy.
