~~ MY MOM'S BROTHER ~~

I will be adding a bio,and pictures for my Uncle Coy as soon as I am able.

Uncle Coy's wife, Bonnie Brakebill

Daughter, Joy Elaine Brakebill, 7 years old at the time of her Dad's tragic death.

Coy Arden Brakebill is my Mom's oldest brother.

My Uncle Coy was killed in a tragic car accident on Cajon Pass, San Bernardino County, California. He was only 34 years old. He was hit head-on by a drunk driver. My Uncle Coy's wife, Bonnie, was critically injured. Mentally and physically she was never a well person after that. The driver of the oncoming car, and his brother, were both drunk. When the police were finally able to make it to the scene of the horrific accident, the two men both had .45 caliber guns in their car that they tried to hide by throwing them in the bushes. They were both convicted and put in prison. I'm not sure how long they were imprisoned.

Due to the mental, emotional, and physical breakdown after the accident, and of losing her husband, Bonnie was not able to care for her daughter, my 7 year old cousin, Joy Elaine. Joy was raised by our Grandparents, Ben and Blanche Brakebill.

It makes me so sad just writing these things. My Mom, Aunt Ila, Uncle Dee, and my grandparents were grief stricken. It was a terribly sad time in their lives.

Dee Brakebill, younger brother, I will add soon.

** Our family was struck by unimaginable tragedy within two months of each other. Two months before my Uncle Coy was killed, my Dad's brother was killed by lightning. He died in July, two months earlier than Uncle Coy. I cannot imagine the pain and anguish.
