Lecil Curtis Draelants went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, after a long illness. Lecil was born on January 23, 1931, in Caplinger Mills, Mo. He came to Springfield in 1952. In the early 60's, Lecil owned and operated Lecil's DX on the corner of Commercial and Grant. In August, 1966, he went to work for Springfield City Utilities in the gas department and retired from there in February 1991. He served as a deacon at Northside General Baptist Church from April 1969, until his death. He was preceded in death by his father, L.V. Draelants, and his mother, Opal Buckner. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy; three children, Dawn Okrei, Springfield, Dallas Scott, Springfield, and Della "Dee Dee" Miller, Trumann, Ark. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, Hannah, Sarah, Jason, and Katrina. Lecil leaves behind many other family members and friends. We all love him and will greatly miss him. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, Mo., with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, in the funeral home. Memorials in his name may be made to Community Hospice of America or Northside General Baptist Church
