He was a Franklin High School graduate of Reisterstown and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was in a Carpenters Apprentice Program in Baltimore and was a carpenter of local Union 101 of Baltimore. He had also been employed with Boyd’s Bears, formerly of Gettysburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his children: Stacey M. Shorb & Jeff of Fenton, MO; Dan E. Nester & Susan of Silver Spring, MD and Mark S. Nester & Colleen of Ellicott City, MD; his grandchildren: Kyra & Jayson Shorb, Reed, Sam & Paige Nester and Ella & Taylor Nester and his sisters: Lois Burton of Reisterstown and Tammy Nash of Hampstead, MD. Steve was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Bob Nester and his sister, Peggy Hinkhaus.
He was a member of Littlestown VFW and FOE, American Legion Post #116 of Reisterstown and past member of Littlestown School Board. He was an avid hunter and a very talented builder. His family was everything to him and his grandchildren were the love of his life.
Funeral Service is Wed, June 7, at 11 A.M. at Reisterstown United Methodist Church, 246 Main St., with The Rev.’s Vivian McCarthy and Dr.Frank Trotter officiating. Interment is in the church cemetery.
