Rosa Sarah Tabor Simpkins, 89, of Marietta, formerly of Rockmart, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006. Mrs. Simpkins was born Jan. 4, 1917 in Needmore, N.C., the daughter of the late Margaret Girlie Ellis Tabor and the late James Jarvis Tabor. She was a retired Rich's Department Store employee with 17 years of service and a member of Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Lewis Thomas Simpkins; a son, Mr. Jerry Eugene Simpkins; a daughter, Mrs. Bettie June Houston; five sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Faye Churchill of Marietta; Margie Rose Simpkins of Annandale, Va.; and Teresa Susan Hatcher of Albany; one son, Mr. Steven Dale Simpkins of Atmore, Ala; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren also survive. A memorial was held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 9 in the Chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with eulogy and special remarks made by family and friends. Interment followed in the family lot of Aragon Cemetery. Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of the funeral services. (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, April 18, 2006)
