Norman Lee DeFore, Jr., 71, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Mr. DeFore was born June 3, 1943 in Atlanta, GA. He grew up in Capitol View Manor and attended Sylvan Hills High and led his high school basketball team to 2 state championships in 1960 and 1961. He attended Auburn University, where he was SEC Player of the Year and Helms Foundation All-American in basketball in 1966. He majored in economics and received his BS degree in 1966.

He moved to Hoover, AL in 1974, where he raised his family. He worked with Cobb Theatres as VP of Marketing and Concessions. He also worked with Office Depot in corporate sales before retiring in 2007. For years Lee has been an active member of Hunter Street Baptist Church.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Norman L. "Dick" DeFore (1997) and Vivian Beville DeFore (2007).

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Anna DeFore; sons, Matt DeFore (Jenny) and Michael DeFore (Meredith); and grandchildren, Brannon, Brett, Mary Tate, Rachel, and Kevin.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00, Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Hunter Street Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will follow at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the "V" Foundation for Cancer Research, Big Oak Ranch, or Hunter Street Baptist Church.
