Lawrence Louis "Butch" Gaietto was a devoted family man and servant to his church and community. He was born in Tiffin, Ohio on December 10, 1924 and went to his heavenly home on June 2, 2017. He was married to his life companion Margaret Anne Gaietto (Baker) on October 26, 1957. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage raising five children together.

Larry "Butch" graduated from Tiffin Calvert High school in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII England from 1943 to 1946. They needed someone who could ride a motorcycle so he became part of the Military Police.

He graduated from Ohio Northern University with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1949 and began working at the Ohio Power Company (now American Electric Power) where he had a long and meaningful career, lasting 41 years.

He enjoyed telling corny jokes, Sudoku, challenging puzzles, and inspired us all by golfing and bowling until he was 90. He also enjoyed hiking, wildflowers and traveling with his wife, brother Tommy and sister in law, Mary. He was fascinated with how things worked and could repair anything, truly anything.

His children and grandchildren will carry on his legacy: Joe (Patti) Gaietto, Dan (Barbara) Gaietto, Anne (David) Ginn, Mary Beth (Fran) Gaietto, Amy (Tim) Huffman, and grandchildren Jillian, Steven, Kyle, Andrew (Aubrey), Vincent (Stephanie), Katie (Jordan), Lily, Laura, Christopher, Adam, Nick, and Lauren; and great grandchildren Jade, Emily, and Florence.

His heavenly family includes his parents Irma and Louis; wife Margaret Anne; and siblings Sister Mary Merici "Angeline", Vinnie, Lupe, Joey, Nips and Irma Rose.

He is also survived by siblings Marguerite, Tommy (Mary) and Sister Angela "Rene".

His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM Wednesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lima, OH. Officiating the Mass will be Fr. Mike Houston. Burial will be at Gethsemani Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the VFW #1275 and the U.S. Army.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL where a rosary service will begin at 8:00PM Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ursuline Sisters of the Toledo Diocese, 2521 Aldringham Road, Toledo, Ohio 43606. Condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com
