Miss Mary Gregson1 was born in Liverpool on 31 March 1867 2, the daughter of Henry Gregson and Ellen Whitehead. She had three siblings: Henry Joseph (1869-1913), Elizabeth Ellen (1871-1938) and Agnes (1873-1894). Her father was lost at sea in 1873 and her mother remarried to a John Macadam (or McAdam) the following year, and as a consequence Mary would gain nine addtional half-siblings between 1874 and 1889.

When she signed-on to the Titanic on 6 April 1912 she gave her address as 28 Lawland Road, (Southampton). Her last ship had been the Olympic. As a stewardess she received monthly wages of £3 10s.

She was rescued in lifeboat 16.

She never married and continued working at sea. Her home was at 3 Weld road, Birkdale in the seaside town of Southport, Lancashire.

On 20 February 1923 she arrived in New York City aboard the Adriatic. Three days later at St Vincents Hospital, New York, she died due to Cerebral Embolism and Heart Failure. He body was returned to England and she was buried with her family at the cemetery of St. Peters and Pauls Church, Crosby, Liverpool. Her estate of £160 5s was left to her mother Ellen who would die the following year.
