Mary was born January 1, 1952, in St. Paul, Minn., to Andrew and Dorothy (Flanagan) McDonough. Mary touched many hearts from growing up in St. Paul, attending Johnson High School, lettering in skating and later moving to Eau Claire.
Mary's kind words and thoughts of encouragement brought many smiles to all who encountered her through her work at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Bauer Tire, and United Health. Mary believed in working hard, and playing equally hard as well in her spare time, enjoying dancing with the Country Loving Kickers and dancing at the fest.
Mary enjoyed sewing and crafting decorative items and had a fond love of Christmas and its lights and snowmen. Mary taught all who knew her to live well, laugh often and love much.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, David; son, Patrick (Brooke) Welch; daughter, Katie (Jack) Welch-Hegge; son, Todd (Renee) Amundson, daughter Jennifer (Steven) Berg; mother Dorothy McDonough; brothers Andrew (Kathy), Matthew (Rose), David (Helene), Mark (Martha); seven grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, Andrew McDonough.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon on Friday, December 22, 2006, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., with the Rev. John Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
